Puddy Muddle - How it all began...

Once upon a time...

...there was a young woman who had a beautiful baby boy called Toby.  Before becoming a mother, she would spend her days happily grinding away as an English teacher.  But after the birth of her son, everything changed.  Something that had long lain dormant and become buried deep over the years had awoken.  A spark reignited.  Perhaps it was all those adventures that she and Toby went on together: long days on safari (the zoo); undersea escapades (the aquarium); long sea voyages on leaky pirate ships (the ferry); enchanted forests (the woods); the list goes on...  Or perhaps it was the guilty pleasure of being able to rediscover old and enjoy hundreds of new children's picture books alongside him.  Whatever it was, something made her put pen to paper.   She started writing her own children's stories when something even more magical happened: she had a darling baby girl called Ellen.   Having Ellen ignited a second spark and this time, the woman put pencil to paper in an attempt to illustrate the stories she had written...

And I've not put the pen or pencil down in the last five years.  My dream (watch this space) is to author and illustrate my own picture books for children.  However, in the meantime, I will keep following the little creative wisps that reveal themselves to me.  Thank you to my husband, Luke (the gorgeous man in the portrait) and to my mum, Julie, for continuing to encourage me and giving me the confidence to follow the wisps and chase the dream.
